Welcome to one of the best homes in Morningside! With three finished levels and a sprawling 5500 square feet, six bedrooms, four and half bathrooms we felt we were lucky to have found this rare new construction opportunity as the original owners in 2014. Many people in Morningside consider Sherwood the best street in the neighborhood and we would have to agree. We enjoy the best of both worlds - walking distance to almost anything from a quiet, tree-lined street. We're a very short walk to piedmont park, the Beltline, Varuni Di Napoli (for pizza-you can smell from our front porch), and Ansley Mall (CVS, Starbucks, pet supermarket, Kroger, Publix). On the other hand, Sherwood is a famously quiet street that's not a cut through to anywhere and our home sits just above the street. It is quiet and private. Sherwood is a fun, active neighborhood for people of all ages - from first time home buyers, baby boomers, kids, dogs and cats. From the summer concerts to the Halloween block party to casual neighborhood get togethers - there's always something to do in the neighborhood. There are numerous chances to get to know neighbors as the sidewalks and quiet streets are conducive to meeting and mingling while walking dogs. One of our favorite rooms isn't really a room - and wasn't on our list of “must haves when we were looking for a new home. I'm talking about our charming front porch. It's comfortable and private because it's up in the trees (you can even take a nap out there) and has a stunning city skyline view. We have the luxury of enjoying our quiet setting with a city feel. It's a great place for dinner or a casual weekend lunch and a favorite afternoon hangout for our teenagers. It's also a great place to enjoy a few minutes listening to music with a drink at the end of the day. when we entertain, we open the double doors on the front and the back of the house for amazing “party flow. It's a great way to bring the outdoors in and one of our favorite things to do. We host a holiday party in December that continues to grow in popularity and numbers due to the home's festive and functional setting. There are many things about our house that we are particularly fond of: The main level garage is relatively rare in the neighborhood, so we feel lucky to be able to pull in and step right into the action in the kitchen. The mudroom is a lifesaver for double sets of dirty pooch paws. We love the rare open floor plan and high ceilings with the kitchen opening to the fireside living room. We are big cooks and love help in the kitchen but also love our guests have a place to hangout while “watching us prep. We've enjoyed the large basement - both the gym side and the TV side (the kids like having their own space). There's plenty of room to expand the gym if needed. There's no other way to say it - but the embarrassingly huge master closet - with its own closets! If you want to arrange by style and color, you can go right ahead because you have plenty of space to do so. And we have so much additional storage with two bowling alley sized closets at the back of the closets on the left and the right. Storage is hard to come by in Morningside homes. We love the skyline views from the master bedroom. This is our "peace in our madness" at the end of a hectic day in Atlanta. You will be hard pressed to find a similar backyard retreat as we have. The fireside back porch overlooks our large backyard. The dogs love the rolling lawn and there is even room for small pool. We like the convenience of the main level office but if you need a bedroom on the main floor, the large back closet is plumbed for a full bath with two additional clothes closets. We hope you enjoy your visit! We're excited to pass this much loved home and life on to buyers who will enjoy it as much as we have.
