This impressive farmhouse on a generous plot of land was built in the early 1900s, initially in the shape of the front house, as a farmhouse. In the fifties of the last century the house was subsequently extended with a stable section/hayloft and enlarged with adjoining stables such as a cart shovel, chicken barn and shed.

Although the current owners have given the property the name "De Straesborg" (they have lived in Groningen for a number of years), the property is locally known to the residents in the area as "Oppe Boojntje". The local chronicler Sil Joosten, who has described the local history and is known as the historical conscience of the village, has never been able to trace this naming.

The entrance of this house is at the back. This is reached after first passing through the main gate, the driveway with parking for guests and the lockable courtyard with parking for 3 (private) cars. From here you already have a wide view of what the garden, embellished with image groups of various artists, the surroundings and the stables have to offer.

The entrance.
The representative reception hall has a granite floor with underfloor heating and enough space for a cloakroom. On the left are two doors, one of which gives access to the spacious toilet room, also with underfloor heating, using granite, marble and modern white tiling under and around the built-in floating toilet and sink.

The living area.
On the right side of the entrance hall, on the southwest side are the living room and kitchen. The kitchen with the same granite floor with underfloor heating as in the hall. The spacious living space has large windows on three sides and a playful layout with 3 different sitting areas and a dining area, to be used as a fireplace, sitting area, TV room and small dining room. The garden door in the front house, originally the front door, provides connection to the front garden, where a terrace on the southeast is provided. The travertine-finished fireplace, the oak-coloured floor, the raised dining-sitting area and the beamed ceiling radiate tranquillity and space and create an unapproachable atmosphere. Underneath the dining room (formerly the upstairs room), the wine cellar with brick niches offers sufficient space for your wine stock. The living area at the front of the house has underfloor heating.

Ground floor living is possible thanks to the large bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. The three windows in the bedroom provide plenty of light and the bedroom has ample storage space thanks to the walk-in closet and a wall cupboard. The bathroom offers all the luxury you could wish for: a corner bath with whirlpool and thermostatic mixer, a floating toilet, a bidet, a double washbasin in a chest of drawers with storage space and a pantry with towel recesses and a shower room with rain shower, hand shower and thermostatic mixer. The bathroom has a red marble floor with underfloor heating. The tiling was renewed in 2016 and together with ceiling, lighting and sink adapted to contemporary living needs.

Lower house.
When the current owners bought the property some improvements had already been made and implemented, but it was still far from the state in which the house is now and has been spatially enlarged. Also outside the stables things have been improved and added to your own taste.

For example, the wood-burning stove in the living room has been moved to the other side as a corner fireplace and equipped with a gas-fired fireplace (2004). The beamed ceiling has been left in view as an original element and the doors and their frames in Art-Deco style have been maintained as much as possible or restored in the same style. It was decided to create a spacious living room from the front house on the ground floor (original 2 rooms, the upstairs room and the living kitchen and a hallway from the front door there), where the kitchen was transformed into a master bedroom by the successive buyers in the original plan, but in the current plan into a cosy TV room.

The basement room, now accessible from the living room, was converted into a cozy wine cellar, which invites for the aperitif, before dinner. Above the cellar is the upstairs room/dining area, where the staircase to the first floor of the front house has been maintained as a style element, but closed with a hatch.

The original garage for the tractor was pulled from the house and transformed into a custom made U-shaped kitchen with breakfast bar, pharmacy cupboard, lots of storage space, a granite worktop and all imaginable built-in appliances such as: double sink with cooker tap, induction hob, extractor hood, American fridge with freezer, LED lighting and in the pantry a sink with sufficient upper cabinets, a microwave / combination oven, extra fridge / freezer, dishwasher, washer / dryer and a cupboard for the grab stock. Kitchen and utility room have underfloor heating. The kitchen is still equipped with a radiator.

The back house.
From the entrance you walk left into the back house. The former stable is for many purposes to use. Besides this space is the former stable, now used as pantry / stables / storage space and equipped with washbasin with hot and cold running water. This is also accessible from the outside.

The hall with passage to the back house, was then from the hall provided with a generous toilet and with access to the part / stable which was transformed into a spacious dining room where built-in feeding troughs and the rough concrete ceiling still remind of the original function of this part of the house. The staircase to the first floor was moved from the front house to the back house, partly because the former hayloft was transformed into living space. To enhance the ambience, a gas fireplace was also built into the dining room in a conversion of travertine. A hood was placed on the outside of the chimney to prevent rain from entering and fitted with a wind vane by an international artist.

The original pigsty and sow shed were converted into a study/study and a new master bedroom with walk-in closet. The bathroom, originally accessible from the old master-bedroom (now TV room) was in the farmhouse the former scullery with door to the outside. This was after relocation of the bedroom (re}furnished as a bathroom (2006). The outside door of the bathroom gives access to an aluminium garden dome in which a jacuzzi is placed, close to the bathroom, for shower convenience and as a changing facility.

Upper house.
There is plenty of space on the first floor. There is an independent living area with its own (subdivision) meter cupboard, a central heating and storage room with connections for washing and drying equipment, a living room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms and a bathroom. The living room has rafters in sight, a dormer window and a large skylight on the south side. Next to the living room is the kitchen set up in an L-shape with dining area and equipped with various appliances. A staircase gives access to the floor in the front house with a landing on which two large bedrooms on the southeast side of the house connect.
The other two bedrooms are located on the southwest side of the farmhouse: one of these rooms is accessible through the living area, has an indoor sun terrace, a solarium space and has a passage to the attic which is used by the current residents as an archive. From this room a staircase leads to an attic which is used sporadically.

The staircase through the large dining room leads to the upper house which is classified as a separate house. Ideal for a resident family member or as a bed-and-breakfast. There is a living/dining room, 2 bedrooms, an attic (used as an archive), an upper attic, a bathroom and a kitchen and enclosed laundry room with connection for washing machine and dryer. The front house has 2 large bedrooms on the first floor.

The garage is over 100 m2 and accessible via a second driveway and equipped with two electrically operated rolling gates with a remote control to open and close.
Part of the garage has a do-it-yourself work corner and has a practical storage attic.

This former chicken barn was completely walled in 2004 with masonry stone and fitted with cast iron semi-circular farmer's windows. The floor is finished with a butterfly concrete cement screed and equipped with 2 electrically operated bridges for a total of 4 cars. Here is also the groundwater pumping installation placed which irrigates the garden via a sprinkler computer in the stable of the house.

Annexe / shed.
The shed is an agricultural workspace of more than 140 m2 that was newly built in 1998 and, thanks to its roof and cavity wall insulation, offers many possibilities for use. The shed has a butterfly concrete floor, (partly plastic) windows with insulating glass, power current, its own metered connection for water and electricity and its own groundwater pump. The space is divided for 1/3rd in a reception hall with bar, office and toilet and for 2/3rd in an L-shaped workspace now used as a farm shop with its own office. One of the offices overlooks an inner garden with box hedges.

The warehouse with office and storage space is for 2/3 part leased to a local entrepreneur who runs a "Farm Shop" and uses the corresponding strip of farmland (approx. 1.5 ha).
The remaining part is furnished as office space and a café space for parties at home or in the garden. The whole can easily be converted into a lean-to or second home if the zoning allows.
