HIGHLANDS This immaculate and spacious six bedroom family home occupies an enviable position close to the centre of the popular market town of Bury St Edmunds. In an exclusive development of five executive homes, this superb residence was built in 2002 with incredible attention to detail. The property boasts an impressive 3,240 sq. ft. of accommodation which features versatile living space across three floors, plus gardens, double garage, and driveway parking in a private setting.
SELLER'S INSIGHT We originally looked at Highlands as we were living in a very attractive, old cottage in the town but realised that we needed more space. The large bay windows stood out to us immediately, as we were accustomed to the small cottage windows. As soon as we viewed it we knew it was without doubt the property for us. The house has always felt wonderfully comfortable to come home to, and has had everything we needed. In particular, being a new house at the time, it was a blank canvas for us to furnish and decorated which we found delightful. It is difficult to choose a favourite room, however our first floor sitting/family room is a really relaxing space that we use a great deal. The location of our home is very private, with no passing traffic. All five houses in our cul-de-sac are completely different designs from each other, and reflect the style of the older houses nearby. We have updated the bathrooms since living here, and installed skylights in the first floor sitting room which has transformed this into a lovely bright, relaxing room. Highlands is a mere 10 minute walk to the train station, and just 20 minutes to the centre of town.
STEP INSIDE This spacious, well designed and attractive detached residence does not fail to impress from the moment you step inside its generous entrance hall. This has double doors to both the sitting room and dining room, and a door leading to the kitchen/breakfast room. The sitting room is dual aspect so wonderfully light and inviting with a fantastic bay window to the front. It has an attractive fire which heats the room beautifully in the colder months. During the Summer there are French doors at the rear of the sitting room that open out onto the west-facing terrace which is just splendid. The generously sized dining room is perfect for entertaining, and like the sitting room boasts a large bay window looking over the front of the property. With a range of wall and base cabinets with wooden preparation surfaces, the kitchen/breakfast room is a sleek, contemporary space for the family. There are views over the garden, and the large picture window allows light to flood in. A separate utility room with spaces for appliances, leads from here, and has a door accessing the rear garden and a further personal door to the double garage. A cloakroom completes the accommodation on this floor.
The second floor has four bedrooms, one of which is currently arranged as a second sitting/family room. The master has a walk-in dressing room, and en-suite shower room with WC, bidet, and hand wash basin. There is family bathroom with Jack and Jill doors so could be used as an en-suite by bedroom three. This bathroom has a separate shower and bath. The master bedroom, and bedrooms three and four have built-in wardrobes. There are stairs from the landing to the upper floor where the accommodation consists of two further double bedrooms, one with built-in wardrobes, and a family bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hand wash basin.
