“I am an antique dealer who for many years had a shop in Kensington, which was very successful. However I thought it would be an excellent idea to buy a home where I could enjoy living and also display some of my elegant antiques in their appropriate surroundings. I fell in love with Cleve Court the minute I saw it and it has been a delight to live here but my plans have changed so I hope another family will be able to enjoy everything this fascinating residence has to offer.
From a location point of view Cleve Court is very close to the Thanet Way for access to Canterbury and London while the village of Minster is not far with its mainline station and variety of individual shops, restaurants and pubs, surgery and veterinary practice. In the opposite direction there is Birchington with its range of shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, nail bars, vets and a medical centre as well as the mainline station. There are some excellent restaurants and pubs in the vicinity including The Smugglers and the Powell Arms in Birchington and the highly acclaimed Corner House Restaurant in Minster. The fascinating Quex Park is nearby with its museum and outside complex incorporating a garden centre, leisure activity areas, craft shops and a livery stables for horsey enthusiasts. Quex Barn offers wonderful food shopping in its farm shop and a great eating experience in the restaurant. There is an outstanding primary school in St Nicholas at Wade and a good local primary school in Minster as well as the King Ethelbert secondary school and the Ursuline College, while grammar and private schools can be found in nearby Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Whatever your interests are in terms of sports the surrounding area can probably provide it. There is a bowls and tennis club as well as a water skiing centre at Beresford Gap in Birchington and a sailing club and other watersports such as wind surfing at Minnis Bay where a walk along the sands or having a day on the beach is one of our favourite pastimes. If you like playing golf the Westgate and Birchington Golf Club or the St Augustine’s club at Cliffsend will fit the bill while cyclists can revel in a trip to Reculver along the Viking Coastal Trail. There is also a very good and inexpensive cinema in Westgate, theatres in Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs and if you want to go further afield Westwood Cross includes a large shopping centre with a variety of high street stores, a retail park and the Vue cinema complex as well as a casino and numerous well known eateries”.
