“When we got together we wanted to create a fabulous home for our children and ourselves. Having already owned the plot of land we set about finding just the right type of house to build on it and, after a great deal of research, we became hooked on oak framed properties. Each one we looked at seemed to have a unique character together with tranquility and timeless charm. We also discovered that oak framing is arguably the most ecological construction material available. It is natural, carbon neutral and sustainable as well as being extremely durable and resistant to decay. In order to satisfy our desire to recycle we used bricks from a variety of reclamation yards and we spent hours on the internet tracking down old oak doors and oak kitchen units. Indeed, we ended up building the perfect home for us, and over the past 13 years, have been tremendously happy here, However as the family have all now flown the nest we feel it is time for another family to enjoy it as much as we have.
We have lived in Minster and Ramsgate all our lives and will continue to live in the village. We love Minster with its Abbey and Church, originally founded in 670AD, which give the village its wonderful historic atmosphere. At the same time for commuters the village has a mainline station for the high speed train to Canterbury and London as well as a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. There are also hair and beauty salons as well an excellent veterinary practice, a dog groomer and doctor's surgery. There is a great community spirit in the village that includes an amateur dramatic society, bowls group, Morris dancers and regular events in the village hall as well as a large playing field that hosts the annual Minster Show.
The Thanet Way for access to London and Canterbury and the Sandwich road for Dover and Folkestone are nearby while the high speed train will get you to Central London in under an hour and a quarter. It is only a short distance to the Westwood Cross shopping centre for a little retail therapy and for golfing enthusiasts there is the St Augustine's Golf Club, Stonelees and the Manston Golf Centre as well as the renowned Championship courses at Sandwich. If you enjoy a walk with the dog or a bit of bird watching and seal spotting the Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve is only a short drive and there are plenty of places around for cycling and riding while the surrounding 26 miles of sandy Thanet beaches offer a wonderful playground for the children”.
