A two-bedroom maisonette with garden, in central Bath, arranged over two floors (ground and first) within a block built to a high specification in 2011 by the well-respected Ashford Homes.
We were looking for a low maintenance property with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and outside space close to the centre of Bath. This proved surprisingly hard to find and took some time, but this one ticked all the boxes and more. We have our own front door from the street (so not shared with the other flats) and on entering you can see right through to the garden. The hall leads on one side to the kitchen and on the other to a cloakroom. The kitchen is compact but very practical. It has off-white gloss units, a range of (Neff and AEG) integrated appliances and a (Porcelanosa) tiled floor. The hall leads to a large sitting / dining room, from which double French doors access the terrace at the rear. This is south facing, paved and fenced, so its a very low maintenance and pleasant, sunny, private space.
An interesting feature is the heat recovery and ventilation system, which removes stale air from the wet rooms before filtering and recirculating it. We have found this to work well.
Upstairs are two double bedrooms. Bedroom 2 overlooks the garden and the rear of the Georgian houses in Nelson Place. Off the landing is a bathroom with a bath and shower over. To the front is the principal bedroom and en suite shower room. This, in common with the bathroom and cloakroom, is fitted to a high standard with Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware, Hansgrohe taps and shower fittings and Porcelanosa tiling.
It may be an apartment, but it actually feels like a house probably because of the two floors. We travel frequently (or we did before lock-down!) and can just lock up and leave without worrying. It is very low maintenance, well insulated with very efficient heating.
It is brilliant to live so close to the heart of the city. For essentials, Sainsburys is only 0.3 miles away and Waitrose 0.5 miles away. There are walks along the river, only 0.1 miles away. Close by too are some of the citys most visited attractions, including the stunning Victoria Park and Botanical Gardens, the famous Royal Crescent and The Circus.
