San Gimignano, also known as Middle Ages Manhattan thanks to its unique high towers in the panorama of small Tuscan and Italian villages. Crossroads of important medieval trade and home to scholars, writers, historians. Located along one of the routes of Via Francigena, was considered as one of resting places where travelers stopped to recover from the fatigue of their journey. It also hosted many personalities of high lineage, such as the Archbishop of Canterbury during his travels to the Papal State, the great poet, Dante Alighieri, as ambassador of Guelph group in Tuscany. During the papacy of Julius II, his high prelate Paolo Cortesi, established his residence in one of the buildings in the area, making it an important and well-known center of humanities that welcomed and hosted political and cultural elite of that period, many meetings of high cultural level that were carried out in the building, what we could today define the "literary cafes".
The "De Cardinalatu" by Paolo Cortesi, which outlines the essential principles that Principles of the Church must possess, some copies of it still remain in some main museums of the world, was printed right in this residence, as evidenced in some writings.
Leaving main road that leads to San Gimignano and climbing along a typical dirt road, is possible to reach the top of the hill that faces the town. The owners, taking a figurative witness from the past, took a building that was decadent and let it go after years of neglect and restored it to its former glory. The recovery of the building, the original spaces, the ancient materials, the stones of the area, everything was treated with attention, passion, love. The end result is different from all other buildings found in Chianti region.

Part closest to the building is kept as a garden, where several equipped gazebos make it pleasant to spend time outdoors during summer days, sipping a good glass of wine while reading a book, casting a glance from time to time to the surrounding landscape.
