HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY Originally dating to the Etruscan period, this charming residence was completely renovated and greatly expanded in 1880 to create a striking Neo-Gothic castle. The existing structure was commissioned by Romeo Gallenga, a nobleman from Piedmont who had recently married Mary Montgomery Stuart, a Lady of the Scottish royal family, and who acquired the property as their family estate. Perugian architect Nazzareno Biscarini then enlisted the skills of local craftsmen, including the noted artist Matteo Tassi and several other painters, sculptors, and designers, to complete his artistic vision. The remarkable home spans 2,700 square meters of palatial architecture and opulent living spaces, along with more than 800 square meters of stables and related buildings, for a total of about 3,500 square meters, or 37,674 square feet. A complete external restoration by renowned local architect Paolo Ceccarelli is now close to completion, following several years of intensive effort. In addition, the interiors have been largely refurbished, though some areas will require further attention. The stables and annexes will need signifcant work to be brought up to the standard of the rest of the property.
