Relaxed elegance with a European sentiment comes to life upon a private half acre in Medina. An unforgettable experience nestled behind a gate, from stately stone to lush gardens—this is a residence created for the senses. Designed with the origin of an English landscape, symmetrical hedges and flower beds meet meandering pathways from which to enjoy 75 rose bushes and over 3,000 bulbs. With light and bright spaces, the home served as the perfect palette for a 2014 renovation, as the current steward collaborated with designer Kathy Banak to add lavish layers of texture and reflect a timeless architecture. Drawing upon the romanticism of the existing façade, appointments and color palettes were updated to create different experiences throughout the home, from the ease evoked by varied entries to exquisite rooms framed by silver patina and chandeliers, and, of course, the impeccable grounds. Simple touches work together to amplify the style, with ceilings crowned by wood beams, stylish molding, recessed doors and windows, and effortless connection between in-and-outdoor spaces. A covered entry with fine hedges and blue stone pathway leads to the foyer, as gleaming hardwoods hearken one into the home. French doors unfold to the sitting room, with tasteful dimension: bright white accents, custom built-ins to house a collection, and glass doors and windows leading outside. A true chef’s kitchen offers stainless steel appliances and an expansive island with farm sink, which opens to an informal living area with rich wood beams, a stark white fireplace, and French doors to the gardens. A lower wine cellar and tasting room will please even the most discerning palette, with ample bottle storage and wine refrigerators complemented by white Carrera marble. Overnight stays are easily accommodated in the summer cottage, situated atop the detached two-car garage. Summer entertaining is centered within the grotto and entertaining pergola, complete with a fireplace for chilly evening gatherings. Romantic shrubbery includes Lavender, Hydrangeas, Fragrant Sweetbox, Laurel, Weigela, Gardenias, Jasmine, Hellebores, Campanula, Pansies, Pieris, Peonies, Camellias, Daphnes, and so many more. The large, level lawn is ready for a game of croquet, while tranquility may be found in alcoves created for quietude. Plantings even grace the home itself, with flowering window boxes cascading between the upper and lower levels.
