Hillside is a charming detached residence situated in a prestigious and sought after residential location on the east side of Church Road, otherwise known as Hill Road and just a short stroll from the centre of Malahide village, the estuary, Malahide Castle and every conceivable amenity. Malahide Community School – Pobalscoil Iosa, St. Oliver Plunkett's and St Andrews National Schools are all within walking distance, as are the entrance gates to the historic Malahide Castle.
The double fronted property with gracious well-proportioned rooms set on circa 0.380 HA (just under 1 acre) was completed in 1911. The decorative concrete facade tips a nod to its seaside location with an attractive seashell frieze just above the ground floor level.
Containing many fine architectural embellishments of its era, the house also offers period fireplaces and ornate wood panelling throughout, a classic red tiled Victorian entrance hall and parquet wood flooring in the main drawing room, which all add greatly to the charm of Hillside.
The house is set amid a very private garden containing a wide variety of almost year round flowering, mature trees and shrubs, as well as two small rewilded areas which are brim-full of indigenous wild flowers in the spring.
Approached through the electric wrought iron gates, the winding tarmac driveway leads to the front of the residence which has ample parking for a number of cars. Granite steps lead up to the enclosed porch, main hall door and wide entrance hall. The two formal reception rooms enjoy wonderful garden views. The kitchen is located on the north side of the house with access through it to the utility room, multipurpose room with shower & toilet, freezer room, storage area, boiler room and garage. A study completes the ground floor accommodation. Upstairs there are 4 spacious bedrooms (the main bedroom en-suite) and a dressing room, with a family bathroom on the return of the stairs.
The residence is perfectly positioned to ensure both privacy and seclusion in this prestigious setting. The front and side gardens are bounded by evergreen hedgerows and a long front boundary wall. There is also a well-used tennis court to the rear of the property and a number of outbuildings including a large attached garage, an outside WC, tool shed, glasshouse and timber barna style garden shed.
Oozing character, new owners will have a wonderful opportunity to give this much loved family home a new lease of life and a unique chance to maximise its potential.
Hillside is Zoned RS Provide for residential development and protect and improve residential amenity in the Draft Fingal Development Plan 2023 – 2029. The entire property offers enormous potential for development purposes subject to planning permission.
