Spacious living at a high level

Just 2 minutes from the centre of Haaksbergen in the direction of Hengelo, on the right side of the eponymous street, is the impressive NSW (Estates Act) estate ‘Het Raa’. Hidden higher up at number 17 behind the almost 200-year-old oak forest and the hawthorn hedge is the unique country house ‘de Koepel’ on 2.14 hectares of land.
After calling in via camera/intercom at the entrance gate, the stately beech avenue offers an impressive view of the old rows of trees, the forest, the green meadow and then the immense lawn. However, what impresses most is the L-shaped country house situated on a mound, which is characterised on the left and right by a dome, both of which form an imposing whole with the surroundings from a natural charm.
The original first part of the house was built in 1887 on behalf of the textile manufacturer F.J. Jordaan and under the architecture of Jacobus Moll. In his time, the latter enjoyed great fame among Twenthe manufacturer families. Over the years this ‘outside’ was expanded slightly, but between 2001 – 2003, the current owner, while maintaining the eclectic architectural style, had a major renovation carried out and had the second dome with extension built. Energy savings and sustainability were also implemented.
West-facing, wide platform stairs, made with natural stone, lead to the main entrance of the house. To the right of the hall is the study/office and the passage to the atmospheric living kitchen and the large living room. In addition to a dining area and a television/reading corner, the latter has a sitting room located in the new dome. In addition to the attractive oak plank floor and the (double) Belgian sandstone fireplace, the experience is given an extra dimension here. In the round shape of the dome, there are several windows that offer a unique view of a large part of the estate. There are also double doors to the curved balcony. The tower of the dome contains a clock.
In the living room there is a steel spiral staircase that leads to the ground floor of the dome. From here, you can access the conservatory, where French doors open up to the large lawn and southwest-facing terrace. Another door leads to a large garage that offers space for several cars, a work corner and lots of storage.
Back to the hall at the main entrance. On the left is the master bedroom, with the dressing-room and beautiful bathroom (bath, whirlpool, steam cabin, shower and toilet) next to it. Next comes the passage to the other wing, which contains two bedrooms and a luxury bathroom/toilet.
Lastly, there is the (lockable) access door to the second living area of the house. It has a private entrance, spacious hall, toilet, kitchen, utility room and a bedroom with walk-in closet, bathroom/toilet. Next to this is the historic, second dome (with fireplace) which forms a double living room together with the parlour. French doors provide access to the north-facing terrace and a beautiful view of the rose bed with box hedges. The adjoining dining room annex library follow in the same style. From here, you have a fantastic view of the ancient oak tree and the orchard on the left. Double doors provide access to the various south-facing terraces and lawn. It is worth mentioning the romantic seat between the two very old, red beeches and the various storerooms that are still on the site.

Haaksbergen has almost all important amenities at its disposal. Enschede and Hengelo are just a 15-minute drive away. The connection to the A1/A35 and A12/A50 motorways is within easy reach.
