Hierden, Zuiderzeestraatweg 158.

Do you love history? This amazingly beautiful country house on the Veluwe breathes the atmosphere of around 1900. In the approximately 18 rooms you can wander endlessly.

Historic Estate
The nearby castle the Essenburgh dates back to 1652. Around 1850, the lord of the castle - as was customary at the time - commissioned a country house to be built on the grounds for the next generation. That became Klein Essenburgh. The son was given the immense mirror from the hall of the castle as a gift. It turned out to be much too large for Klein Essenburgh. It still hangs there but divided over two floors.

Time machine
Despite all the contemporary luxuries and comforts, you imagine yourself in the early 20th century. Almost every room has a fireplace and marble hearth. On the floor is parquet or authentic marble. Antique, sometimes double doors always lead to a new surprise. The residents love the house. You can see that in the perfect state of repair, in the stylish furnishings and care. "We have constantly improved the house but not remodeled it," says the owner. By the way, you don't have to fill all those 18 rooms at once. Like buying a treasure trove to which you add your own valuables.

Hospitable enjoyment.
The kitchen is the central place in the home. While it exudes coziness, it is perfectly equipped to conjure up generous dinners on the table. The versatile, professional Mareno stove plays an important role in this. The house seems made to pamper guests. There are not only luxury guest rooms but also "Klein Essenburgh towels" and even "Klein Essenburgh wine. The main house has plenty of space to combine living and working. But there is also an independent, multifunctional coach house. For one or more live-in parents, for example. For home office or maybe you have completely different ideas.

Country house life.
From the house you look away beautifully on the garden. The lavish rose arbor competes for attention with the old walnut tree. The garden merges into meadows bordered by a private forest. A path winds between the old beeches and oaks. Vast enough to walk your dog on your own property. Pheasants, deer and hares regularly show themselves. The bossauna is, of course, fully equipped. You can chop your own wood if you wish. There is room for horses, small livestock or anything else. The riding mower and other tools can be found in the large work shed.

Hierden
You live a few car minutes from Harderwijk, a traditionally cozy fishing town on the old Zuiderzee. Do you like to sail? Through the Veluwe lake you are so on the IJsselmeer. Amersfoort and Zwolle are about 30 minutes by car and within an hour you are in Amsterdam, Utrecht or Arnhem. There are plenty of schools, sports clubs and several golf courses nearby.

Like opening a 19th-century treasure chest...
