Location
The Riebeek Valley is the birthplace of 2 of South Africa's Prime Ministers. Jan Smuts was born in the valley and together with DF Malan went to school in Riebeek West. It is surrounded by vineyards and wheatlands and is in the area referred to as the Swartland, so named after the indigenous black bush that grows on the hills and mountains. There are numerous wine farms, the most well known Allesverloren ("All is lost "), named after a tragic fire.
