LOCATION Finestrat is a picturesque coastal town with a wonderful bay protected by a rocky terrain and has an award-winning blue flag beach “La Cala de Finestrat”. It is a little paradise between the sea and the mountain with a beautiful beach of fine white sand and plenty of restaurants allowing visitors to taste delicious cuisine by the sea. It is situated only 10 minutes from the main town of Benidorm.
Due to its geographic location, Finestrat has sheltered many civilizations throughout history. Archaeological remains from the Upper Palaeolithic, as well as from the Iberian and Roman
cultures, prove that Finestrat was populated well before 1289, when Pedro III granted the Municipal Charter to the locals. The Moorish influence in Finestrat is reflected in its urbanisation, which keeps the charming, peculiar street structure of traditional Mediterranean villages.
Either for their historical background or their natural environment, it is well worth a visit to any of these interesting places: El Castell, La Torre, Hermitage of Santíssim Crist del Remei, the Church of Sant Bertomeu and La Font del Molí.
Benidorm is known as the New York of the Mediterranean, because like the cosmopolitan city it never sleeps. It is the town with the most skyscrapers in Spain and the town with most skyscrapers per square metre anywhere in the world, except New York. It attracts all nationalities, the majority being Spanish from the big cities, most notably from Madrid. The “Old Town” in Benidorm boasts a massive selection of traditional Spanish Tapas cafes which are some of the best in the whole of Spain.
You will find that it’s a cosmopolitan and modern town with first class facilities, fine dining restaurants, trendy bars and nightclubs, 5-star hotel and spa resorts yet it still has many traditions that make it unique. Benidorm has miles of wonderful palm tree lined beaches, secluded coves with crystal clear waters and a rugged coastline to explore with places of natural beauty to discover and vantage points with spectacular coastal views.
Less than 45 minutes from Alicante airport Benidorm boasts some of the most stunning golf courses in Spain and is recognised as one of the best golfing destinations in Europe by the prestigious International Association of Golf Tour Operators.
