Topcliffe is a pleasant and peaceful village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. The village benefits from a number of excellent amenities including a doctors surgery, village shop and post office and a primary school.
Topcliffe has the benefit of being close to private schools (both within three and a half miles); Cundall Manor and Queen Mary's School.
There are some great pubs in and near the village including recently renovated The Angel at Topcliffe, The Swan Inn, the Crab and Lobster restaurant and the Crab Manor Hotel at nearby Asenby.
The Village Hall, which stands in a central location is operated by a voluntary group of residents and organises a range of social events to engage the local community.
Topcliffe has an interesting history and is mentioned in the Domesday book. There are indications of a settlement in the area dating back to Neolithic times. The village is situated on the River Swale, on the A167 road and close to the A168. It is about 5 miles south-west of Thirsk and 11 miles south of the county town of Northallerton.
