Description

Lilystone Hall was built in 1847 and is listed Grade II of Architectural and Historical Interest. Symmetrical elevations to the south reflect the influence of the Georgian period of architecture, having evenly placed windows around a central front door. This apartment is the largest in the building and enjoys many fine period features exemplified by high ceilings, tall sash windows which flood the rooms in natural light, fireplaces, deep skirtings and moulded cornice. A feature of the apartment is the views over the grounds and woodland from the reception room and bedroom. The grounds are reminiscent of a Victorian park, with fine lawns and a great variety of magnificent specimen trees, forming an arboretum, numerous shrubs and banks of rhododendrons. Of special merit is a secret garden planted with masses of spring bulbs and a beautiful lily pond making for an oasis within the grounds.

The building has an intercom for each of the apartments. A communal foyer includes individual postal boxes and an impressive hall provides access to the apartment. A lobby includes a touch-screen entry system and the floor is finished in oak, with herringbone finish continuing to an inner hall which includes a cloaks cupboard. Either side of the hall are the two bedrooms. The principal bedroom has very high ceilings and deep tall windows, and includes an original fireplace. The room has wardrobes (to remain) and a beautifully appointed en suite bathroom. The second bedroom, with equally high ceilings, has a lovely outlook over the grounds with an adjoining highly appointed shower room. The reception room is truly impressive and bathed in natural light from tall, shuttered sash windows which frame lovely views of the grounds. The ceiling heights create a great feeling of space, relieved by cornice, deep skirtings and a beautiful original marble fireplace. The floor is finished in oak, herringbone-style finish which is replicated in the kitchen. The kitchen forms an 'island' within the reception room, highly appointed with gloss-fronted units and complemented by granite tops. There are integrated NEFF ovens, a microwave, a wine fridge, a cooker hood and a dishwasher. Stairs from the reception room lead to a mezzanine snug overlooking the room below and beyond is a custom-built dressing room with shoe racks and wardrobes, and a large fully fitted utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer (to remain), newly-fitted boiler and a useful store.

Outside
An impressive long drive passes through woodland to parking in front of the hall. To the south is a bank of rhododendrons lining sloping lawns which lead you down to the lily pond. The lawns are lined by a superb selection of shrubs, deciduous and evergreen specimen trees which are a feature of the grounds and include beech, oak, copper beech, chestnut, pine and glorious cedars. The apartment has a double garage located immediately as you enter Lilystone Hall.
