Outstanding 4-bedroom villa for sale in the Monte Castiço development in Alcácer do Sal.
Monte Castiço is an exclusive development situated on the stunning Alentejo Coast in Santiago do Cacém, Portugal. Seamlessly blending modern architecture with the serenity of nature, the project stands out for its harmonious integration between the built environment and the surrounding landscape. Comprising 11 tourist villas and a service building, Monte Castiço offers the perfect balance of comfort, privacy, and elegance. The villas have T4 to T5 layouts and private interior areas spanning 200 sq m to 250 sq m. Each unit features a private swimming pool, spacious terraces, and exclusive parking for up to three vehicles. Interiors are crafted with premium materials, such as natural wood and stone, paired with modern finishes in neutral tones. The exteriors honour the Alentejo tradition with clay-tiled roofs and lime-rendered walls. One of Monte Castiço's greatest assets is its strategic location. It is 91 km from Lisbon and a short drive from pristine beaches like Aberta Nova and Santo André Lagoon. The development offers convenient access to supermarkets, charming villages like Melides and Santiago do Cacém and urban hubs such as Sines and Comporta. With a sustainable design that prioritizes native vegetation and environmental integration, as well as a range of exclusive services for residents, including garden and pool maintenance, Monte Castiço presents an exceptional investment opportunity. It combines high standards of quality with significant income potential, making it a true sanctuary of luxury and tranquillity.
Santiago do Cacém, a typical Alentejo town, is dominated by its imposing castle, whitewashed houses, and historic centre, which is of great architectural beauty. Nearby, the Roman ruins of Miróbriga stand as a testament to human presence since prehistoric times. Originally a pre-Celtic settlement, it was Romanized between the 1st century B.C. and the 5th century A.D., becoming the central Roman city south of the Tagus. Miróbriga Celtici or Salatia Imperatoria—scholars disagree on the name—had a forum, temples, impressive baths, and the only Roman hippodrome found in Portugal. In the 19th century, Santiago do Cacém was an aristocratic hub where influential families, such as the Counts of Avillez and Fonseca Achaiolli, lived in luxury. Reflecting this opulence, the first car to arrive in Portugal in 1895 belonged to the Count of Avilez, and the country's first Rolls Royce was owned by José Sande Champalimaud. The town thrived with agriculture (cereals, fruit, cork) and commerce but later faced stagnation until the 1970s, when it underwent its most significant urban expansion, this time in a planned and orderly manner. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking from the top of the castle at Passeio das Romeirinhas. The mother church, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, preserves Gothic elements from the original temple, built by order of Santiago da Espada. Please note that all distances and measurements are approximate and, for security reasons, do not represent the property's exact location.
