Description
Majestic and imposing, Castello Colz is a Gothic jewel set in the enchanting landscape of the Dolomites, telling centuries of history, noble lineages, ancient splendor, and unforgettable legends. Every stone bears witness to a fascinating past, and every window opens onto breathtaking views.
Its stone towers, powerful walls, and Gothic windows narrate the history of Castello Colz, a castle that embodies the charm of late medieval architecture. Built in 1536 by order of Hans Rubatsch and later passed to the Lords of Colz, it experienced eras of grandeur before being reborn in the late 1980s as a refined hotel with luxurious suites, exclusive services, and Michelin-starred culinary experiences.
The estate spans 4,000 sqm, featuring a private garden of 1,700 sqm and 2,000 sqm of surrounding land, ensuring an oasis of peace and absolute privacy. Overlooking Gran Risa, considered one of the most beautiful and technically challenging slopes of the Alpine Ski World Cup, the castle offers a spectacular view of the valley and the majestic Dolomite peaks, making it an exclusive retreat for sports enthusiasts.
Spread over five floors, the castle boasts sumptuous spaces and a timeless atmosphere: rooms and suites with historic charm, grand reception halls, cozy lounges, a noble kitchen, and an exclusive wellness area. Hidden in the underground levels are mysterious corners, including a tasting area, a secret vault, and even an ancient prison, holding stories from distant eras. The North-West and North-East towers house independent apartments, each with its own entrance, offering privacy and luxury in an unparalleled setting.
Alta Badia, a Dreamlike Landscape
Alta Badia, one of the most exclusive destinations in the Alps, offers dreamlike scenery in every season: in winter, its snow-covered forests and perfectly groomed slopes transform it into a paradise for skiers; in summer, its golden pastures and sun-kissed peaks create the perfect backdrop for hiking and outdoor adventures. A spectacular plateau embraces the castle, dotted with high-altitude refuges and gourmet chalets, where the authentic flavors of tradition blend with the beauty of nature.
When winter descends upon the Dolomites, Alta Badia becomes the stage for pure emotion. With its 130 kilometers of slopes, the local ski circuit extends up to 2,700 meters and connects directly to the legendary Sellaronda, a carousel of over 500 kilometers of runs crossing the four Dolomite passes. Every December, La Villa hosts one of the most spectacular competitions of the Ski World Cup: the challenge on Gran Risa, a mythical slope set to take center stage at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
But Alta Badia is not just about sports and adventure—it is also a sacred destination for gastronomy lovers. In a territory of just 15 square kilometers, four restaurants boast the prestigious Michelin star, while dozens of establishments offer a culinary experience ranging from Ladin tradition to haute cuisine creations.
Thanks to its strategic location in the heart of Europe, Alta Badia is easily accessible from both Italy and abroad. The A22 Brenner motorway provides quick access by car, while the airports of Bolzano, Verona, Bergamo, Treviso, Milan, and Venice, along with those in Innsbruck, Munich, and Zurich, offer convenient international connections. A private helipad is also available near the castle.
