Weedon Lois (sometimes also referred to as Lois Weedon) is a rural village situated in the countryside of 'The Golden Triangle' in South Northamptonshire.
Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, its name came from the Anglo-Saxon "Wedone" meaning "a hill with a temple" and to this day there remains a prominent mound above the village green which is known as Castle Mound. It is believed that a Norman priory was founded in c1100. Situated in Church Close field, all traces seem to of it have sadly disappeared. Recorded on a tablet in the church, the village history is also linked to the Civil War, by its then vicar, a loyalist who was apprehended by Parliamentary troops in July 1643.
Amenities include a well-regarded Church of England Primary school, church, village hall, playing field and The Crown Inn pub/restaurant in the neighbouring village of Weston. The thriving village community of Weston & Weedon also offers everything from amateur dramatics, to WI, horticultural society, playgroup and yoga.
