For a sprawling estate
This eight-bedroom finca in Mallorca is set on a 60,000 square metre plot near the picturesque town of Bunyola. As well as the four-bedroom 19th century villa, which has been extensively and tastefully renovated, there is a guest house — with a gym, office, consecrated chapel and room to sleep a further four people — as well as a swimming pool and a spa area. Though it is only a 20-minute drive from Mallorca’s capital and the island’s airport, the various porches and terraces have expansive views over the property’s orchard and olive trees (which produce between 300 and 400 litres of olive oil a year) to the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana. It is on the market for €9.95mn.
For sea views
Situated within walking distance of Cala en Baster, which is often ranked one of the best beaches in Formentera, this modern five-bedroom property has views of the island’s eastern coast and the Mediterranean. On the market for €2.75mn, the recently refurbished main house has extensive outdoor areas, including a private covered terrace with dining area, and an outdoor kitchen and shower facing the private garden. There is also a large swimming pool.
For a private oasis
This eight-bedroom home is nestled in the Menorcan countryside, not far from the port town of Mahón (which is thought to be where mayonnaise originated from). Set within six hectares of land and surrounded by tall trees, the main house and guest accommodation feel like a private hamlet and there is an al fresco dining space and kitchen to make the most of the outdoor space. There is also a well, bread oven, an organic garden and swimming pool with a terrace that opens the property to views of the countryside. It is on the market for €4.2mn.
For a sunset panorama
Set in the cliffs near the Philippe Starck-designed harbour of Port Adriano, this modern six-bedroom villa — on the market for €26mn — has panoramic views over the Mediterranean and the western coast of Mallorca. The open plan living and dining space features high-end finishes and a Boffi kitchen, and the ground floor has a spa, hammam (Turkish bath), Finnish sauna, plunge pool and massage area in addition to the external infinity swimming pool. The second-floor suites have private balconies and, with the various terraces and private sea access, there are many options to enjoy the sunset over the water.
For a private peninsular
This 9-bedroom “half-island” (also main picture, top) — a peninsular on the east coast of Ibiza — is on the market for €45mn and includes a large villa, a private bay and beach, and, thanks to its elevated position, 360-degree views of the island, the coastline and, on a good day, Mallorca. There are also two pools (one is an infinity pool), extensive gardens, a yoga pavilion and a sports court. Despite its isolated position, the property is accessed via a private tarmacked road and is a 30-minute drive from the nightlife in Ibiza town.
